Our MSP already handles security. Do we still need a CISO?
Your MSP runs security tools and keeps systems patched, and that's essential. A CISO decides what level of risk is acceptable, which controls matter most, how vendors are governed and what the Board hears. That work sits above the MSP's contract. ABISOL sets those priorities and holds your providers to them.
Can you guarantee we won't be breached?
No one can honestly guarantee that. What we can do is reduce both the likelihood and the impact of an incident, make sure you can recover, and make sure you could show regulators, insurers and clients that you took reasonable, risk-based steps.
We're a small organization. Are we really a target?
Most attacks are automated and opportunistic. They look for weak passwords, missing MFA and unpatched systems, whatever the size of the organization. Smaller organizations often hold sensitive client, member, donor or patient data with fewer protections around it.
We have cyber insurance. Isn't that enough?
Insurance transfers part of the financial impact, but it doesn't prevent an incident or the disruption it causes. Insurers also expect specific controls such as MFA, tested backups and an incident plan, and claims can be affected if those controls weren't in place.
Do we need SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification?
It depends on who you sell to and what they ask for. We'll tell you honestly whether certification is worth it now, or whether a well-documented, framework-aligned program meets your clients' and regulators' expectations for the time being.
Do you do penetration testing?
When a test is warranted, ABISOL scopes it and brings in a vetted specialist from the ABISOL Expert Network who works under your fractional CISO's direction. Your fractional CISO then translates the findings into business risk and priorities for your leadership.
How is this different from the free Cyber Essentials Assessment?
The free assessment is a quick self-assessment for smaller organizations and a good first step. A posture assessment or Fractional CISO engagement goes further: we verify the evidence, cover your specific regulatory and vendor context, and own the plan and the reporting over time.
Will we have to buy new security tools?
Often not right away. Many organizations already pay for strong security features, in Microsoft 365 for example, that aren't switched on or configured. ABISOL is vendor-independent and doesn't resell anything, so we start with what you own.
