We already have an IT team. Why would we need a Fractional CIO?
Your IT team keeps things running. A Fractional CIO sets direction, owns the roadmap and budget, and represents technology at the leadership table. Most internal teams don't have the time or the mandate to do that. ABISOL works alongside your team and advocates for them. It doesn't replace them.
We already have an MSP. Isn't that enough?
An MSP is essential for day-to-day operations, but it is a supplier, not your strategist. When the MSP also sets your direction, priorities tend to follow what the MSP sells and supports. A Fractional CIO sets the strategy, holds the MSP to clear service levels and makes sure you get value for money.
We can't afford a full-time CIO or CTO.
That's exactly the gap fractional leadership fills. You get senior judgment for an agreed amount of time each month, sized to what you actually need, without an executive salary, benefits or a long-term hiring commitment.
Are we too small for this?
If technology decisions carry real consequences for your clients, members, donors, regulators or growth, you're not too small. The engagement is sized to your organization, including organizations with no in-house IT leader at all.
How much of your fractional executive's time do we get?
It's agreed up front and reviewed as needs change. It's typically heavier in the first 90 days, while the roadmap and governance are set up, then a steady monthly rhythm of steering, reporting and oversight. Vetted specialists join under your fractional executive's direction when a piece of work needs them.
What's the difference between a Fractional CIO and a Fractional CTO?
A CIO focuses on how technology runs the organization: systems, operations, vendors, budget, governance and risk. A CTO focuses on the technology you build or sell: product platforms, architecture and engineering. Many organizations need some of both, and ABISOL covers both.
Will you push us toward particular products?
No. ABISOL doesn't resell software, hardware or services, so recommendations are never tied to a commission. We start by getting full value from what you already own.
What happens if we eventually need a full-time executive?
That's a good outcome. Your roadmap will show when a full-time role makes sense, and the governance, documentation and reporting built during the engagement give a new leader a strong starting point.
